Armenian opposition demands to investigate beating of Ter-Petrosyan's supporters

Today, Levon Zurabyan, spokesman of the Nationwide Movement of Armenia, has demanded from the authorities to find those guilty of organizing the incident in the Severny Avenue of Yerevan on July 2, when several supporters of the opposition were beaten.

"About 300 persons were present there; most of them come to the Avenue every day. Thus, there should be no problems to open this crime. Everything happened in the eyes of the police. Therefore, either the police quickly open this crime, or if they wouldn't, it means that they accept that everything had been organized by the authorities and, consequently, the criminals remain unpunished. I am sure the police will never uncover this case," said Levon Zurabyan.

We remind you that as a result of clashes some supporters of the opposition, including women and minors, were severely beaten, three women applied for medical aid; one of them was brought to the nearest hospital and diagnosed to suffer from hypertonic crisis.

The eyewitnesses have informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they had recognized in some of the attackers Gagik Beglaryan and Mger Sedrakyan, bodyguards and persons from the retinue of administrations of the Yerevan communities of Kentron and Erebuni, and a trainee of the well-known former boxing fighter, triple world champion Israel Akopkokhyan.

After the accident in Severny Avenue, the opposition supporters started a sit-in protest action.
