Yuri Budanov was rejected early relief

The Court of the city of Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk Region, has refused today to satisfy the petition for conditional early relief of ex-colonel Yuri Budanov, convicted for murdering a Chechen girl in 2000.

Sources in the City Court of Dimitrovgrad have informed that the relief petition arrived from the administration of Colony No. 3, where Budanov serves his term since 2004.

The session of the City Court was a circuit one, held in the territory of Colony No. 3, the "Interfax" reports.

We remind you that the "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that in March 2000 Colonel Yuri Budanov, commander of the 160th Tank Regiment of the Russian Ministry of Defence, acting with a group of his subordinates, kidnapped and killed Elza Kungaeva, 17, a resident of Tangi-Chu village. There were evidences that before her death the girl was raped, however, later the investigation did not consider this episode. Budanov was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment.
