Militia column shelled in southwest of Chechnya

On March 11, in the submontane Achkhoi-Martan District of the Chechen Republic, unidentified criminals shelled a motorcade with employees of law enforcement bodies. One of the militiamen was hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it from a source in law enforcement bodies of the Republic.

According to an officer of the Chechen militia, the attacked militiamen and militaries of the commandant's office were returning to their permanent disposition after examining the place of incident in the suburb of Bamut settlement, where three local residents suffered as a result of blowing up a lorry.

This is far from being the first case of an attack on employees of power agencies committed in Chechnya from the start of this year.

On March 4, in the Oktiabrskiy District of the city of Grozny, during a passage of the pedestrian patrol of servicemen from the Patrol-Sentry Regiment of the Republic's MIA, a self-made land mine blew up. One of the militiamen received a gunshot wound.

On March 1, in the Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, a guided mine was blown up near a car with employees of the Russian FSB Department for Chechnya. Fortunately, nobody suffered.

On February 21, in the Urus-Martan District of Chechnya an unidentified bandit opened fire on three OMON fighters from Buryatiya UVD, who went into a toy store for making shopping. As a result of the attack, two fighters were killed, and the third one was hospitalized in a grave condition. The criminal managed to escape.

In 2008, at least 97 militiamen and soldiers were killed, and at least 138 wounded. There were 39 terror act, at least 10 more were prevented. Last year, the "Caucasian Knot" also learnt about 73 special operations conducted by power agents in Chechnya, where 115 persons declared as militants were liquidated.
