Switzerland to build cottages for 42 refugee families in Ingushetia

In 2009, the Swiss Administration for Development and Cooperation (SADC) plans to build cottages in Ingushetia for 42 families of forced migrants from the Chechen Republic. This was stated by Peter Mikula, head of the coordination office for cooperation of the Swiss Embassy in Russia, during his meeting with President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mr Evkurov, who visited on November 28, 2008, the temporary refugees' camp in the city of Nazran, where 200 persons are accommodated, expressed his dissatisfaction with the conditions of their life.

This year, the cottages will be built in Karabulak, and in 2010, the SADC plans to implement, in the Republic's territory, a development programme of social infrastructure in those settlements, where houses had been earlier built for those refugees, who decided to get integrated in Ingushetia, as Mr Mikula has noted.

President Evkurov has expressed his hope that the SADC will not only successfully continue its mission, but will also essentially expand its programmes. "You'll always find support from the leadership of Ingushetia, and I rely on our fruitful cooperation, which will allow us to considerably improve the life of refugees," the "RBC.Southern Region" quotes Mr Evkurov as saying.
