Ingush citizens gauge their new President

The Internet users and bloggers from Ingushetia are actively discussing the meeting of the new President Yunus-Bek Evkurov with the parents of the murdered Magomed Evloev and his first actions in his new position.

On November 3, a meeting took place of the leaders of the Ingush opposition Maksharip Aushev, Magomed Khazbiev and Musa Pliev, Evloevs' advocate, with the new President of Ingushetia.

On the same day, Yunus-Bek Evkurov paid a visit to the parents of Magomed Evloev, expressed his condolence to his relatives and friends and promised to take the investigation of the murder case under his personal control, the "Ingushetia.Org" website reports.

The actions of the new President of Ingushetia are closely watched by the visitors of the forum of this website and Ingush bloggers.

Kaloy Akhilgov, a worker of the website, while making analysis of what Mr Evkurov should do in the first place "to at least somehow settle down the situation", writes in his blog in the Live Journal: "Amnesty should be announced for underground forces, same as it was done in Chechnya. Plenty of young men went away to the forest seeing no other way to fight against Zyazikov's regime."

Further, Mr Akhilgov deals with the refugees' problems. "The fact that Evkurov himself is a forced migrant from Angusht village is the most important factor in this problem," said the oppositionist. "There's no need to stimulate him. Under Zyazikov, the refugees' problems were at a dead point, not so much because they were not solved in Moscow but because Zyazikov did not raise them at all."

Kaloy Akhilgov also recommends steps to ease social tension and notes that under Zyazikov "quite a lot of federal laws were ignored and local ones were adopted in parallel". "Thus, for example, municipal employees should be paid their salaries calculated in the so-called MROT (floor salary). Starting September 1, 2007, MROT in Russia makes 2300 roubles, and in Ingushetia - 600 roubles. And where 1700 roubles disappear?"

The basic criticism of the portal visitors relates to the fact that Evkurov has failed to promise to hold investigation in relation to "already acting" Interior Minister Musa Medov, involved, in the opinion of the opposition, in Magomed Evloev's deliberate murder and other crimes. It is noted that Evkurov came, together with Musa Medov, to the mosque to meet residents of Ingushetia.

"The opposition was encouraged, but one should remain sober," Stanislav Dmitrievskiy, former head of the Society of the Russian-Chechen Friendship, gave his comments to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on Zyazikov's dismissal and Evkurov's appointment and added that the Ingush opposition "had initially made a mistake having directed 99 percent of its criticism personally at Murat Zyazikov".
