Mourning events held in SFD in memory of victims in South Ossetia

September 16 was 40 days after the start of the broad-scale warfare in South Ossetia. A number of regions of the South Federal District (SFD) held mourning actions in memory of the victims of the armed conflict.

Thus, a mass action in memory of the victims of the tragedy took place in Rostov-on-Don. Its participants gathered in front of the Gorky Central Park.

In a similar manner the casualties in South Ossetia were commemorated by residents of Volgograd. A mourning meeting there brought together over 500 persons.

Yesterday in the afternoon, the mourning meeting in Vladikavkaz started with a minute of silence. Thousands of people came to the central square of the capital of North Ossetia, reports the TV and Radio Company "Petersburg - Fifth Channel".

In Stavropol, on September 16, about three thousand residents came to the Lenin Square to spend a minute of silence in memory of tragically perished residents of South Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers, the "Stavropolskaya Pravda" newspaper writes.

The casualties were commemorated in churches of the SFD, even if no special funeral services were ordered there on the occasion, and in higher schools of Dagestan.

We remind you that actions dedicated to tragic events were held in South Ossetia too. On September 16, Tskhinvali hosted a mourning meeting, where participants were townspeople, activists of public organizations, representatives of the executive power and MPs.
