Labourites accuse Georgian authorities of legislative preparation of election falsifications

The Labour Party is blaming the authorities of Georgia that falsification of elections was prepared at the legislative level. This was stated at today's briefing by Kakha Dzaganiya, Ideological Secretary of the Labour Party.

"The national movement is in agony. Fearing to lose the parliamentary elections, the 'nationals' are planning to forge the elections this time at the legislative level," Mr Dzaganiya said.

According to his story, under the order of President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili there is no longer a must for the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), according to the changes recently made in the Electoral Code, to confirm the final election protocols with six seals. It is now enough to put signatures of the members of electoral commissions. Besides, the appeal term has been cut from two to one day, and the final protocol is no longer approved by a special decree.

Kakha Dzaganiya sees the main problem in the fact that both the final protocol and the appeal will not be sent to the CEC; the appeal process will be held locally.

"The amendments are intended to make election falsifications easier," the politician has emphasized.
