Families of victims of the air crash near Donetsk demand a new investigation

The relatives of the victims of the accident with the Anapa - St-Petersburg flight of the Tu-154 aircraft, which crashed down in August 2006 near the city of Donetsk, have addressed President of Russia Vladimir Putin with a demand to hold a repeated objective criminal investigation.

"Charging the commander of the aircraft of everything that happened is criminal! It allows the officials to avoid taking effective measures to improve the level of flight safety," notes, among other things, the above letter, which is now at the disposal of the "Echo of Petersburg" Radio.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that the relatives of the victims of the air crash of the "Anapa - St-Petersburg" plane also filed a collective complaint to the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg. They assert that their right to fair trial was breached and are going to demand appropriate indemnification.

We remind you that the accident of the Tu-154 plane that belonged to the "Pulkovo" and was making a flight from Anapa to St-Petersburg took place on August 22 forty-five kilometres to the north of Donetsk. A total of 160 passengers and 10 crew members perished. According to the investigation conducted by the IAC (International Aviation Committee), the "human factor" was recognized to be the reason of the tragedy.
