Court has upholds verdict to Nurpashi Kulaev, participant of Beslan school capture

The Presidium of the Supreme Court of Russia has confirmed the life imprisonment verdict to Nurpashi Kulaev, who took part in seizure of hostages at School No. 1 of the city of Beslan in North Ossetia.

Pavel Odintsov, press-secretary of the Court, has informed the RIA "Novosti" that the Court rejected the supervisory complaint of the relatives of the terror act casualties, who had asked to cancel the verdict and send the to new consideration.

The "Caucasian Knot" informed earlier that late in May 2006 the Supreme Court of North Ossetia sentenced Nurpashi Kulaev, who is considered to be the only survived attacker on Beslan, to life imprisonment. The Court had found Kulaev guilty under eight Articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including banditism, murder and capture of hostages. In the end of December 2006, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the verdict to Kulaev, having made some changes in it. The victims then found the verdict too lenient, while Kulaev's defence asked the Court to commute the punishment.
