Ecologists of Adygea win the trial on zoning of the Sochi National Park
Today, the Maikop City Court has satisfied the claim of Valery Brinikh, an ecologist from Adygea, who believes that the zoning of the territory of the Sochi National Park as approved by the Order of the Federal Service for Supervision over Environmental Management ("Rosprirodnadzor", Moscow) of August 27, 2006, is illegal.
Mr Brinikh told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the second legal entity, whose decision was challenged, is the Experts' Commission of the State Ecological Examination appointed by the Order of the "Rosprirodnadzor".
The new zoning, the ecologist has explained, was performed under the guise of the needs of Olympic Programmes. Actually, the build-up of these territories with all sorts of cottages, tourist bases and hotels - that is, by private business, was at full swing. While the Olympic objects have taken at least 10 percent of the total volume.
"I filed my claim to the court on November 13, 2006," the ecologist said. "They refused to take it, and I had to apply to other instances, up to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation."
