Bekhbudov: tortures are still practises in Azerbaijan
The Azerbaijani Committee Against Torture has launched monitoring of investigatory isolation facilities and temporary custody cells of police units of cities and districts of the Republic. This was reported by Elchin Bekhbudov, Chairman of the Committee, who visited on October 20 the western region of Azerbaijan.
Mr Bekhbudov has emphasized that the monitoring sessions conducted in 15 Districts of Azerbaijan have revealed that tortures are still used against detained citizens. He did not designate any particular names of heads of investigatory isolation facilities and temporary custody cells, the IA "Day.Az" informs.
The Chairman of the Committee Against Torture has noted that monitoring shows that at least 10 percent of isolators of the Republic fail to meet modern standards.
