Website of “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” project blocked in Russia
At a request of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the “Roskomnadzor” (Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Communications) has blocked access in Russia to the website of the “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” human rights project.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” project advocates, among other things, for residents of Southern Russia who have been persecuted. So, on April 1, the project recognized as a political prisoner Yevgenia Maiboroda, a pensioner from Shakhty, who was sentenced to 5.5 years of imprisonment in a case on fakes about the Russian Army. Yevgenia Maiboroda is convicted for her pacifist position, the human rights defenders claim. They demand to release the 72-year-old woman.
“On April 30, the website of our project ‘memopzk.org’ stopped opening in Russia without using a VPN, although it is not yet listed in the public list of websites blocked by the ‘Roskomnadzor’,” the human rights defenders reported.
“We will look for ways to make the access to our website easier for our readers in Russia,” the human rights project announced.
