Daudov announces his resignation as Speaker of Chechen Parliament
After a meeting with Ramzan Kadyrov, Magomed Daudov, the chair of the Chechen Parliament, has announced the early termination of his powers.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 4, 2016, Magomed Daudov was unanimously elected to the post of Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, and was re-elected in 2021.
When asked about a new position, Magomed Daudov replied that he “couldn’t say anything,” the “Chechnya Segodnya” (Chechnya Today) news agency reports.
Let us remind you that earlier, the leader of Chechnya has announced that Magomed Daudov also “supervises the activities of the regional operational headquarters for conducting the special military operation (SMO).” “In particular, the headquarters provides military and security forces from the Chechen Republic with uniforms, ammunition, military vehicles and equipment, and is also responsible for training and sending volunteers,” Ramzan Kadyrov stated.
On April 16, Magomed Daudov was awarded the military rank of Major General. Earlier, on August 14, 2023, by the President Putin’s decree, Magomed Daudov was awarded the similar rank of Major General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
The name of Magomed Daudov has been mentioned in reports in connection with human rights violations in Chechnya. So, on May 26, 2017, a report by the human rights organization “Human Rights Watch” (HRW) was released. It claimed that “Magomed Daudov played a key role in organizing the ‘cleaning up’ the republic of gays, as approved by the Chechen authorities.”
