Prosecutor demands three years for Taganrog woman for discrediting Russian Army

The prosecutor has demanded to sentence Irina Skorovarova, a resident of the city of Taganrog, accused of discrediting the Russian Army, to three years in a colony-settlement. This was reported by the human rights project "OVD-Info"* with reference to Sergey Kovalevich, an advocate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 11, 2024, law enforcers came to Skorovarova to conduct a search within a criminal case about discrediting the Russian Army. The Taganrog City Court sent her under house arrest for two months; and Irina has no opportunity to buy foodstuffs for her 12-year-old daughter and medications for her elderly grandmother, the advocate said. However, the appellate instance has upheld the ruling about the house arrest.

The reason for the criminal prosecution was a video about a Russian military serviceman posted by Skorovarova in her page in the "Odnoklassniki" social network.

In 2023, Skorovarova was fined under the administrative article about discrediting the Russian Army for another post of her placed in the "Odnoklassniki".
