Blogger Askhabali Alibekov arrested for 15 days for disobeying police

A court in Kazan has arrested Askhabali Alibekov, a native of Dagestan and the author of the YouTube channel "Wild Paratrooper", for 15 days. An ambulance was called to his trial because of a suspected brain concussion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 23, 2023, Alibekov was sentenced to a year and two months in jail; the court concluded that the video posted in his YouTube channel discredited the Russian Army. On November 10, 2023, Alibekov was released. He complained about the custody conditions in the colony.

Now, Alibekov was found guilty of disobeying the police. He was taken from the courthouse to the hospital, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has informed.

Alibekov said that he came to Kazan to submit an application to the election commission aiming to become an observer at the presidential election. At the railway station, law enforcers attacked him.

"They insulted and humiliated me at the police station. They didn't take off the handcuffs for two hours; didn't give me anything to drink and to eat; and they didn't take me to the toilet," Askhabali has complained. He is sure that his detention is aimed to prevent him from observing the election.

In July 2018, after five days of arrest, Alibekov's conditional three-year sentence was replaced with a real one for disobeying the police.
