Sochi woman fined for pro-Ukrainian slogan
The court has fined Olga Verkhososova, a resident of Sochi, by 40,000 roubles, after treating the slogan in support of Ukraine voiced out in the presence of militaries as discrediting the Russian Army.
The "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports that Olga was filming on her phone a radar station on a ship in Sochi Seaport, and then shouted a pro-Ukrainian slogan to the militaries standing next to her.
Olga Verkhososova has refused to plead guilty. "She has explained to the court that she was indeed near the seaport territory. She did not call on anyone to do anything; she just heard a phrase [in support of Ukraine] and repeated it. She didn't deny that she photographed the ship, but without any purpose," the court document says.
The Tsentralny District Court of Sochi has assessed the defendant's statement of innocence "as a method of defence and a desire to evade responsibility for a committed administrative offense" and imposed a fine on her.
