Mayor of the capital of Azerbaijan can be made responsible for collapse of the building

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Baku Prosecutor's Office that Akif Magerramov, head of the apartment-cooperative service of the mayoralty of the capital of Azerbaijan, has been brought to criminal responsibility under Article 308.1 (abuse of service position) in case about the building that collapsed on August 28 in Mukhtarova Street.

Meanwhile, a well-informed source in the government asserts that detention of Akif Magerramov may be regarded as preparation for the arrest of the capital's mayor Gadzhibaly Abutalybov. An arrest of Vugar Seidov, head of the apartment division of the mayoralty, is also probable.

By now, 17 bodies of the victims have been found. Nine persons are registered as missing, the APA reports.

The number of persons arrested on the fact of the collapse of the building is now 5: Ali Muradov, Director General of the "Mutafakkir" building company, Chief Engineer Asker Aliev, contractors Farkhad Gasanov and Gadir Salimov. In relation to them, the court has chosen a three-month arrest as freedom restriction measure.

According to Tural Museibov, head of the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies, the primary conclusion of the Ministry's experts is that the reason of the collapse was a non-uniform placement of the foundation and poor-quality of construction works, the Day.Az reports.
