Kadyrov criticizes Prigozhin for rebellion

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has condemned Evgeny Prigozhin, the founder the leader of the "Wagner" Private Military Company (PMC), for an armed rebellion and announced that Chechen law enforcers were moving into tension zones.

On June 23, Prigozhin accused the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) of shelling PMC positions and promised to look into it. In relation to Prigozhin, a criminal case was opened for incitement to an armed rebellion. Today, he has stated that the fighters of the "Wagner" PMC took control of military facilities in Rostov-on-Don. President Vladimir Putin has treated the situation in the city as complicated.

"Everything that is happening is a knife in the back and a real military mutiny. I have repeatedly warned that the [special operation] is not the time to voice personal grievances and resolve disputes in our rear," Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel. Such actions can lead to bloody consequences, he has added.

Kadyrov has also urged Russian militaries not to succumb to the calls of the rebellion organizers.

"The rebellion must be suppressed; and if this requires taking tough measures, we are ready," he has stated.

Let us remind you that on May 31, Kadyrov announced that Chechen units had been redeployed to the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) to participate in the assault on dwelling settlements. On the same day, Prigozhin stated that he was unaware about the location plans of Chechen units. Magomed Daudov, the head of the Chechen Parliament, has noted that Prigozhin should not know about the tasks of Chechen fighters in the special military operation (SMO) zone. On June 3, Prigozhin declared his conflict with Kadyrov people settled.
