Defence convinces court to add activists' characteristics to "Ingush case" files

The court has granted the defence's motion to add the documents characterizing the defendants to the materials of the so-called "Ingush case". Ismail Nalgiev's sister said that for the first time she could see her brother in the courtroom.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since January 13, 2023, a trial has been underway at the Stavropol Territory on complaints against the verdicts against seven Magas protest leaders. On May 11, Bagaudin Khautiev, Ismail Nalgiev and Zarifa Sautieva claimed that there were no proofs of their guilt. Their advocates stated that the court had failed to prove that there were attributes of extremist activities in the convicts' actions.

The Ingush activists are accused of creating an extremist community and taking part therein. At the rally in Magas, they urged the crowd to refrain from riots, the defence and the convicts themselves keep stating.

"We filed a motion to add additional characterizing materials to the case files. These are the defendants' diplomas, certificates of diseases and psychological conclusions," Magomed Bekov, one of the advocates, has stated. The court has satisfied the motion.

Aisha Nalgieva, Ismail's sister, has stated that she has small children; therefore, she could attend the trial for the first time. According to the woman, a couple of times she could visit her brother; she was allowed to see him; and these were their only meetings in four years.

She has also stated that she treats the verdict as unfair, but has no hopes for the cancellation thereof.
