In Krasnodar Territory court satisfies Shapsugs' complaint against City Court of Sochi

The case related to complaints of Black Sea Shapsug nationals Islam Napso and Kharet Tesheva at the Judicial Board for Civil Cases of the Krasnodar Territorial Court was decided in favour of the applicants, the "Caucasian Knot" informs. They wrote in their cassations claim that, in their opinion, the Central District Court of the City of Sochi had illegally and unreasonably suspended consideration of their case on breached rights of the minor indigenous nation of the Krasnodar Territory - the Shapsugs.

According to the applicants' authorized representative, it is the first victory in the lengthy judicial struggle, and it is only an intermediate one.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that Islam Napso and Kharet Tesheva had sent a complaint to the Central District Court of Sochi last October. They had challenged the inactivity of the local governmental body in relation to aborigines of the Caucasian Black Sea coastal area - the Shapsugs. A month later, they addressed a higher judicial instance - the Board on Civil Cases, since they were dissatisfied with the decision of the first instance.

The applicants' representative has noted that the complaint had first of all raised the issue of the rights of the applicants - representatives of a minor nation - for the privileges stipulated by the Federal Law "On Guarantees of the Rights of Minor Nations of the Russian Federation."
