Priest from Krasnodar Territory fined for discrediting Russian Armed Forces

The archbishop from the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban was fined for his statements in a church, which a court recognized as discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The Slavyansk-on-Kuban City Court fined theologian Viktor Pivovarov, the archbishop of Slavyansk-on-Kuban and South Russia of the Rossiyskaya Orthodox Church (it is one of the alternative Orthodox jurisdictions; they recognize the canonicity of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). The Cathedral of the Rossiyskaya Orthodox Church is located in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”), for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the “Kommersant” reported.

On February 19, 2023, in the church in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, the archbishop made statements discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. In court, he pleaded guilty in full. The court found no extenuating circumstances and fined him 40,000 roubles.
