Social network post causes Oleg Orlov's persecution
Experts have decided that the article written by Oleg Orlov, a human rights defender, for some French edition and posted in his page on a social network, contains signs of discrediting the Russian Army. During the interrogation, Orlov has explained that he had expressed only his personal opinion. Investigators have chosen his freedom restraint measure in the form of recognizance not to leave. Now, Orlov is awaiting interrogation within the case of Nazism rehabilitation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that employees of the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence, as well as of the liquidated "International Memorial"* and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"* were detained after searches within the case of Nazism rehabilitation. Oleg Orlov, a co-chairman of the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence, has been prosecuted for repeated discrediting of the Russian Army. The point is in his Facebook post** dated November 14, 2022. This is a Russian translation of Orlov's article about the events in Ukraine, published by the "Mediapart" outlet.
Law enforcers seized Orlov's laptop, three hard drives, several flash memory sticks, a phone, a badge with a pacifist slogan, and the book "Russia-Chechnya: a chain of mistakes and crimes", the "Memorial" Centre for Human Rights Defence has informed in its Telegram channel.
*The organization was included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in the register of NCOs, performing the functions of a foreign agent, and was liquidated by a court’s decision.
