Authorities of Moscow allow holding a meeting in memory of Beslan act of terror

A meeting in memory of the victims of the Beslan tragedy will take place on September 1 at 4:00 p.m. in the Bolotnaya Square in Moscow. Today, the Government of Russian capital has granted an official sanction to hold the action.

At the same time, activists of human rights organizations will rally in Malaya Konyushennaya Street in St-Petersburg.

The investigation into the terror act, in which 331 persons, 186 children among them, were lost, continues for three years already. Year 2007 is one of the hardest for the victims: long investigation of the case of the militiamen accused of negligence, rumours about their possible amnesty and, finally, a real amnesty of power officers as a final full point in victims' hopes for justice.

"The overall objective of the meeting is to demand objective investigation and termination of that mockeries undertaken by the prosecutor's office in relation to the victims," Marina Litvinovich, editor-in-chief of the web site "Truth of Beslan," told earlier in her interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the interlocutor, the mourning actions this year will remain the same: on September 3, Beslan residents will rally at School No. 1 and hold one minute's silence; they will let many balloons and pigeons into the sky, then the procession will move to the cemetery, where the victims of the act of terror are buried.
