Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov reacts to version of assassination attempt

When commenting on social media users’ questions about an assassination attempt, Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov promised to provide details in the nearest future. Blogger’s brother Mukhammad is alive, the Chechen human rights association “Vayfond” reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Tumso Abdurakhmanov, well-known for criticizing Ramzan Kadyrov, announced the resumption of the video activities on his YouTube channel. The Chechen blogger did not explain his absence for 3.5 months. Many social media users have expressed the opinion that Tumso Abdurakhmanov used information about his death for his own PR.

On December 1, 2022, the information about the murder of Tumso Abdurakhmanov in Sweden appeared on the Internet. Neither Tumso Abdurakhmanov’s relatives nor the authorities of Sweden confirmed the above information, but associates of Tumso Abdurakhmanov did not rule out that he could be killed or could stay under police protection. On December 9, 2022, the press service for the government of the self-proclaimed Chechen Republic of Ichkeria* reported that Tumso Abdurakhmanov was alive.

Tumso Abdurakhmanov promised social media users that he would soon tell them about the assassination attempt. “There are a lot of questions about the assassination attempt. Everyone is interested in the details, the names of the customers. Please have a little patience, my friends, everything has its time,” the blogger wrote in his Telegram channel.

Tumso Abdurakhmanov’s brother Mukhammad is alive, the Chechen human rights association “Vayfond” reports.

*The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria is an unrecognized separatist state formation (1991-2000), created after the collapse of the USSR on part of the territory of the former Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and liquidated by federal troops during the second Chechen military campaign.
