Advocate demands to return home mobilized Dagestani with many children

Alibek Alibekov, a resident of Dagestan with many children, was denied a deferment from mobilization; his advocate has sent a complaint to the Russia's Commissioner for Children's Rights.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Dagestani women with many children have treated the mobilization of their husbands as unfair. They said that two men, the sole breadwinners of families with three children, had been sent to the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine.

In October 2022, Andrei Kartapolov, the chairman of the State Duma Defence Committee, announced a decision to defer mobilization of the fathers with three or more children under 16 years of age.

Alibek Alibekov, a 24-year-old resident of Dagestan, the father of three young children, the youngest of whom was born in August 2022, was called up on September 24. The instructions of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on the deferral of conscription for fathers of three or more children under the age of 16 were issued on October 4, Pavel Chikov, a lawyer, has stated in his Telegram channel.

"Colonel Daitbeg Mustafaev, the military commissar of Dagestan, has stated his position as follows, '... those residents of the republic with many children who had been called up before the above deferment was accepted, are not subject to return home'," Mr Chikov has quoted, adding that many persons mobilized from Dagestan have already received such refusals.

Let us remind you that on November 13, 2022, Igor Babushkin, the governor of the Astrakhan Region, reported on the return of nine mobilized residents of the region back home. "We go on returning home the mobilized fathers of many children," the governor wrote in his Telegram channel.
