Labourites go to European Court against authorities of Georgia
Members of the Labour Party have filed a complaint against Georgian authorities to the European Court for Human Rights, Shalva Natelashvili, leader of the Labour Party of Georgia, has made this statement today at the press conference in the Party's office. The subject of the claim was installation of collective electricity meters.
He has added that collective electricity meters are considered nonsense all over the world, and for the Government of Georgia they are "just a new method to rob its people."
The leader of Labourites has called on the population to come to a peaceful action and express their protest against collective meters.
We remind you that the National Commission of Georgia for Power Regulation (NCPR) gave a permit to the "United Distributors' Energy Company" to install collective electricity meters and collect payments for electricity from the population on the basis of the readings of these meters. Now, most of the villages over the whole territory of Georgia are already equipped with collective meters, sometimes, one for several families, sometimes, one for the whole street.
The Constitutional Court of Georgia has rejected the Labourites' suit on the non-constitutional character of the NCPR's decision.
