A protester detained in Yerevan

Today, a supporter of the opposition has been detained during protest actions near the Armenian government building, the police report.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since April 25, in Armenia, the opposition has been holding protests demanding the resignation of the country's Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, after he agreed to "lower the bar" on the Karabakh issue. This morning, activists have blocked the government building, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia is located. Protest leaders have urged city residents to join the protests. The opposition has expressed its dissatisfaction with the results of the meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, who refused to confirm that Nagorno-Karabakh could become a part of Azerbaijan. After the meeting, the police tried to push the activists away from the Armenian MFA’s building, and the opposition decided to unblock the government building.

During the today’s protest actions near the building of the MFA of Armenia, one activist was detained and taken to a police station for failure to obey a lawful demand of the police, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent learned from Zarzand Gabrielyan, the chief of the Media Relations Department of the Armenian police.

The blocking of the MFA’s building lasted four hours, after which supporters of the “Resistance” movement returned to Square of France.
