Azerbaijan insists on peaceful settlement of situation in Ukraine

The situation in Ukraine should be resolved through diplomacy in accordance with the norms of the international law, including respect for states' sovereignty and borders' inviolability of, Araz Azimov, a Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 22, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliev, signed the Declaration on Allied Interaction, which obliges Baku to respect Moscow's interests and creates a risk of complicating its relations with Turkey as a NATO member, political analysts have noted. Two activists held an action near the Russian Embassy in Baku, calling to stop the Russia's aggression in Ukraine; they demanded from Azerbaijani authorities to break the alliance agreement with Russia.

"The situation in Ukraine and around causes serious concern," Deputy Minister, Araz Azimov, has stated.

"In the current situation, an urgent dialogue is needed to prevent a further deterioration of the situation," Mr Azimov is quoted as saying.
