Residents of Khasavyurt suburb complain about pressure after gathering
Law enforcers have summoned five participants of the gathering against the laying of high-voltage power lines through the dwelling settlement of Bammatbekyurt, and demanded to name the organizer; and drew up a protocol on the villager who was filming the event. Law enforcers are trying to put pressure on activists so that they stop protesting, local residents have suggested.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 7, Bammatbekyurt residents opposed, at a spontaneous rally held near the administration building of Khasavyurt, the laying of high-voltage power lines through their settlement. The lines will pass across the public territory and will not touch any private households, the Mayoralty has promised.
The posting of the video with the people's gathering at the Mayoralty triggered close attention of law enforcement bodies, said Salamu, a resident of Bammatbekyurt. There was no rally at the administration; people just stood there and talked to each other, he has added.
Arslan, a local resident, said that he had filmed the gathering on video, and on February 7, he came to the police department to find out what claims they had against him. He refused to sign the protocol, so the materials were not sent to the court. They are trying to put pressure on activists so that they stop opposing the laying of high-voltage lines, Arslan has added.
Administration officials promised residents to send a project of power lines to residents, but subsequently they were not acquainted with it, Salamu has explained, adding that local residents had applied to various bodies, but to no avail. According to his version, villagers intend to achieve the laying the power grids by bypassing the settlement.
