Political analysts rule out Kadyrov's resignation because of petition

The Kremlin approves of Ramzan Kadyrov's policy in Chechnya and will not dismiss him, despite the popularity of the petition launched by Ilya Yashin, a Moscow oppositionist, political analysts believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ilya Yashin posted on the website Change.Org a petition addressed to the President of Russia demanding Kadyrov's resignation from the post of the head of Chechnya; and it was signed by more than 80,000 people. Votes can be spun by bots, which is why the Kremlin is not taking the petition seriously, Dmitry Peskov, the presidential press secretary has stated.

The petition appeared amid Chechen authorities' threats to the Yangulbaev family, human rights defenders and journalists. Readers are invited to read about Kadyrov's conflict with Yangulbaevs in the material of the "Caucasian Knot" entitled "How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov's enemies".

Ilya Yashin is sure that Russian residents don't support Kadyrov and his work as the head of Chechnya.

Dmitry Oreshkin, a political analyst, believes that the petition can't influence Kadyrov's fate even if it is considered. Authorities won't pay attention to it as they don't treat the Change.org as a significant platform.

Ilya Yashin's position is respected, but the petition is unlikely to make sense, since there are no legal grounds for Kadyrov's resignation, Alexei Malashenko, a Caucasian expert, believes.

Alexei Makarkin, a deputy director general of the Centre for Political Technologies, has noted that the Kremlin is satisfied with Kadyrov's activities: "For the Kremlin, Kadyrov is the person who ensures order in Chechnya… and no one will touch him."
