Baku hands Armenian soldier's body over to Yerevan

Azerbaijan has handed over to Armenia, through the mediation of Rustam Muradov, a deputy commander of the Southern Military District of Russia, the body of an Armenian soldier who perished in the recent hostilities on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 17, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that one soldier had perished in border clashes with Azerbaijan; 13 soldiers were taken prisoner of war (POWs); the fate of other 24 soldiers is unknown, the MoD has stated.

On November 16, hostilities broke out on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Armenian authorities claim that the Azerbaijani troops tried to move forward, while the Azerbaijani party accused Armenian soldiers of trying to capture some heights in the border areas. Both parties reported losses suffered during the skirmishes. They stopped on November 16 after negotiations of the heads of the Armenian and Azeri MoDs with their Russian colleague.

The parties agreed to continue work on the return of POWs and the search for the missing servicemen, the "News.am" reports.
