Kadyrov demands to tighten fight against tinted car windows
The head of Chechnya has called tinting of any car windows in Chechnya unacceptable and suggested that those who are afraid of raids "stay at home."
In late 2023, drivers in Chechnya faced new law enforcers' raids against tinted cars; any attempts to argue with the police resulted in serving summonses, local residents complained. The raids are now conducted in order to recruit drivers to be sent to the special military operation (SMO) zone, Ali Magamadov, a political analyst, has suggested. In December 2024, road checks in Chechnya were again intensified.
Earlier, Ramzan Kadyrov linked the high road accident rate in Chechnya with the increase in the number of tinted cars. He demanded to "completely eradicate" this problem, including by involving drivers' relatives.
"I've drawn attention to the current problem associated with car window tinting. I emphasized that compliance with the law in this matter is mandatory for everyone," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.
The "ChP Grozny 95" Telegram channel has posted a translation of Kadyrov's statements about tinting. "Tinting of car windows is unacceptable, they left it on the rear window, but they even started sticking it to the windshield. There should be no more films. Those who are afraid should stay at home," the post has stated.
