Week of November 1-7 passed without victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week from November 1 to November 7, 2021, in the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, no information about those dead or wounded was reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
Detention of native of Chechnya in Astrakhan
On November 2, in one of the Astrakhan cafes, Magomed Alkhanov, a native of Chechnya, was detained; on October 26, he escaped from the psychiatric hospital in Astrakhan, where he was examined within the case of the attack on Pskov paratroopers back in March 2000. Earlier, Alkhanov had served 10 years in colony on charges of preparing a terror act, arms trafficking and participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF). After the escape, Alkhanov was put on the wanted list.
On November 3, it became known about the detention of an employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN), who, according to investigators, had helped Alkhanov to quit the hospital for a bribe of a million roubles and provided him with a mobile phone.
Alkhanov's defence has treated the law enforcers' version of his escape as implausible, pointing out that neither Alkhanov nor his relatives had a million roubles for the bribe. Alkhanov's wife called his escape an attempt to claim his innocence.
Every month, quarter, and every year, the “Caucasian Knot” posts statistics with regard to victims of the armed conflict in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in Section “Northern Caucasus: Statistics of Victims”.
