Kadyrov's representative arrested in Saint Petersburg on drug charges
Islam Khizriev, the head of the Chechen mission in the Russian North-Western Federal District (NWFD), detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of possession of drugs, was placed under house arrest until December 25.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khizriev was detained on October 26 in Saint Petersburg. According to the traffic police (known as GIBDD), three grams of a narcotic psycho stimulant were seized from his car.
Late in the evening on October 28, the Moskovskiy District Court of Saint Petersburg chose house arrest, as the freedom restriction measure, until December 25 for Islam Khizriev, the head of the Chechen Representative Office in the NWFD. His defence and Khizriev himself asked for house arrest, while investigators insisted on placing him in custody. The court took into account that Khizriev has five minor children, disabled spouse and mother, said the united press service of Saint Petersburg courts.
