Detention in Cherkessk
On October 1, in Cherkessk, FSB officers detained a 20-year-old resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, a neighbouring republic. According to the FSB, the detainee was plotting a terror act in the city against law enforcers and acted on the instructions of militants of the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”). “Components and tools for making an improvised explosive device (IED) were seized from the suspected terrorist,” the FSB reported.
According to FSB agents, they detected the correspondence with terrorists in the detainee’s mobile phone.
Every month, quarter, and every year, the “Caucasian Knot” posts statistics with regard to victims of the armed conflict in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in Section “Northern Caucasus: Statistics of Victims”.
