Residents of Chechnya point to involvement of state servants in campaigning for voting

In Chechnya, officials, teachers and businessmen are placing posts in social networks calling voters to go to the polls, residents of the region informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 16, it became known that rallies had been held in various dwelling settlements of Chechnya with the participation of state and civil servants, who urged local voters to go to the polls.

On September 17-19, in Chechnya, apart from elections of Russian State Duma MPs, a direct election of the head of the republic will be held. Ramzan Kadyrov was registered as a candidate for the post from the "Edinaya Rossia" (United Russia) Party. According to political analysts, the outcome of the election is foregone.

Many residents of Chechnya, mostly state servants, are placing posts in social networks in support of Ramzan Kadyrov and demonstrating their participation in the elections, said a resident of Grozny named Madina. "My acquaintances have placed such posts. There were even a lot of photos of ballot papers in which Kadyrov was ticked. I also saw posts [with photos of ballot papers] on the Instagram placed by businessmen and individual entrepreneurs," Madina told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In [one of the districts] of Chechnya, administration officials were obliged to post calls to participate in the elections in social media, an administration source has informed. "I've posted a photo in my networks taken against the flag of the Chechen Republic and saying that the voting will last for three days. The photo contains the motto 'electing together'. I didn't write whom we should vote for, although, of course, even without discussion, we all understand who we should vote for." the official explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
