Those killed in special operation in Ingushetia buried a year later

The bodies of Lolokhoev brothers and Aslangirey Gadaborshev, who were killed in a special operation in Ingushetia, have been handed over to their relatives for burial a year later, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"* has reported. One of the conditions for the release of the bodies was non-disclosure of information and the termination of communicating with human rights defenders, the HRC asserts.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 23, 2020, in the village of Troitskoye, Magomed Saraliev, Aslangirey Gadaborshev and Ibragim Lolokhoev were killed during the detention in the village of Troitskoye; law enforcers claimed that they were supporters of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia. Isa Lolokhoev, who, according to special services, had planned terror acts with another local resident, was killed on August 17, 2020, near the village of Galashki. The, investigators refused to give the bodies out to relatives for burial.

Gadaborshev was not prosecuted for terrorism; therefore, the refusal to give his body out to relatives was beyond the law, Nadezhda Ermolaeva and Tamerlan Akiev, human rights defenders, have stated. Such "war with dead bodies" is a demonstration of cruelty, Magomed Mutsolgov, a rights defender, believes.

"From our viewpoint, the refusal to give bodies out to relatives is grossly insulting their religious beliefs, and violates their right to respect for private life," the HRC "Memorial"* has stated.
