Rights defenders ask Kokov to take CTO case in Nalchik under control
A group of human rights defenders from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has appealed to the region head, Kazbek Kokov, with a demand to take personal control over the inquiry into the case of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in Nalchik and Baksan, as a result of which five casualties were declared militants.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on July 3, law enforcers conducted a CTO in the cities of Nalchik and Baksan, as a result of which five alleged militants were declared killed. According to the journalist, Nadezhda Kevorkova, all the five had been kidnapped earlier, while the whole CTO was staged.
Activists of KBR human rights organizations have appealed to Kazbek Kokov, the republic's leader, with a request to help in the investigation of the circumstances of the death of Khasanbi Khupsirgenov.
The authors of the appeal demand to provide them with the data on the CTO. "It was reported that there were negotiations, as a result of which the casualties refused to lay down their arms. Such events in full, from beginning to end, must be recorded by technical means. The digital materials and records should exist confirming that such negotiations took place in reality," the appeal says.
