Two persons receive traumas at rally in Tbilisi

A journalist and an oppositionist, who were detained on July 12 during a protest action near the office of the "Georgian Dream" Party, were injured; one of them was hospitalized.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 11, journalists and opposition supporters went to large-scale protests in Tbilisi and other major Georgian cities, demanding resignation of the government and investigation into the death of Lekso Lashkarava, a cameraman of the "TV-Pirveli" Company. Protesters stayed overnight in front of the Georgian parliament building. Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister, said he was not going to follow the resignation demand. Six oppositional politicians and journalists rushed into the session of the Georgian Parliament and demanded resignation of the government. There was a scuffle with securities; and law enforcers detained 12 people near the "Georgian Dream" office.

Irakli Absandze, a journalist of the Georgian Public Broadcaster, was among the detainees. He wrote on the Facebook that his arm was broken during the rally near the "Georgian Dream" office.

Another detainee at the same venue – Tengo Kirtadze, a member of the "Girchi-More Freedom" Party, – was taken from the police station to the clinic. He asserts that he was injured when a law enforcer kicked him, the "Rustavi-2" TV Company has reported.
