Protest in Yerevan ends with oppositionists' detentions
Supporters of the "Movement to Save Fatherland" tried to hinder the entrance of Nikol Pashinyan's motorcade into the block of government dachas in Yerevan; the police detained several activists.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on Wednesday (April 21), residents of the Syunik Region, who demand resignation of the Premier, Nikol Pashinyan, blocked the way of his motorcade; and he himself was forced to leave the city of Agarak. After that, the Prime Minister instructed law enforcers to find and punish the organizers of protest actions.
On April 21, residents of the city Goris expressed their outrage at Pashinyan's visit; and in the village of Shurnukh, the Premier's cortege was pelted with eggs, the "Zangezur TV" reports. Pashinyan is unable to ensure the country's security, one local resident has stated.
During the action, there were no serious incidents with the use of force, but the situation escalated after eggs were thrown in the direction of dachas: after that, the police detained several opposition supporters.
Then, Premier's opponents tried to free the detainees, and began blocking the traffic, but Pashinyan's motorcade was able to enter the territory of government dachas.
Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a member of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun", has blamed Pashinyan for the political crisis in the country. "He brought the country to catastrophe; and the longer he remains in power, the deeper the chaos will be. It's necessary to consolidate the society and achieve the Pashinyan's resignation," Mr Sagatelyan has stated.
