Pashinyan demands to punish protesters in Syunik Region of Armenia
At a rally against Nikol Pashinyan, residents of the Syunik Region of Armenia accused the Prime Minister of intending to transfer the Megri corridor to Azerbaijan. The Armenian Prime Minister instructed the law enforcement bodies to find and punish organizers of the protests.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that today, residents of the Syunik Region have blocked the way for the Nikol Pashinyan’s motor convoy, and he himself was forced to leave the city of Agarak.
After Nikol Pashinyan left the town of Megri, a conflict arose between local residents and the Prime Minister’s bodyguards. The Nikol Pashinyan’s motor convoy headed towards the town of Kadjaran, residents of which also came out to protests. However, the Prime Minister’s motor convoy drove around the city and headed for the town of Kapan, where the regional administration was located.
The atmosphere of impunity may not be allowed in Armenia, the chair of the Armenian government notes. Nikol Pashinyan ordered to detain a number of protesters, including the heads of large communities in Syunik, the “News.Am” reports.
The protests against Nikol Pashinyan’s visit were organized by “well-known circles,” says Mane Gevorgyan, the press secretary for the Armenian Prime Minister.
