Kadyrov's relative approved as Mayor of Grozny

By the outcomes of secret ballot, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov has been appointed Mayor of Grozny, the City Duma has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 2, on Ramzan Kadyrov's recommendation, his relative, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov, was appointed acting Mayor of Grozny. Isa Khadjimuradov, who had held the post since February 2020, was transferred to the post of deputy head of the administration of the head and government of Chechnya. On March 30, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov got registered for the "United Russia" Party primaries as a candidate to the State Duma along with the current State Duma MP Adam Delimkhanov.

The Grozny City Duma has approved the acting Mayor of Grozny, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov, as Mayor, says the decision of March 29, posted on the Duma's website.

The appointment of a relative of the head of Chechnya as Mayor of Grozny undermines the positions of people from Ramzan Kadyrov's inner circle, including the Parliament Speaker, Magomed Daudov, and Adam Delimkhanov, an adviser to Kadyrov and a State Duma MP, Svetlana Gannushkina and Ruslan Kutaev believe.

Almost the entire ruling system in Chechnya is tied personally to Ramzan Kadyrov and people close to him. According to the BBC Russian Service, out of 158 high-ranking officials in Chechnya, 30% are Kadyrov's relatives, 23% are his fellow villagers, and other 12% are his friends and their relatives.
