Protest action in Yerevan ends with detentions

Policemen have detained several protesters who tried to prevent Nikol Pashinyan from flying to Moscow to participate in negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh. Oppositionists have unblocked the road after learning that Nikol Pashinyan, the Premier, had reached the airport.

Today, opposition supporters have blocked the road to Yerevan airport today to prevent Pashinyan from flying to a meeting in Moscow. However, the Premier's motorcade managed to pass before the road was blocked.

The talks of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia are scheduled for January 11 in Moscow. Vladimir Putin, Ilham Aliev and Nikol Pashinyan intend to consider the conflict settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh and discuss solutions to regional problems. The Armenian opposition is concerned that the results of the Moscow meeting "may become a continuation of the November 9 surrender," Vazgen Manukyan, a candidate for prime minister from the oppositional Movement for Motherland Salvation.

Policemen have detained several activists who tried to prevent Pashinyan from flying to Moscow, the "Interfax" reports.

Let us remind you that the opposition is seeking the resignation of Pashinyan, who had signed the ceasefire on Karabakh. The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkisyan, and Garegin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, have also urged the Prime Minister Pashinyan to resign.
