Opposition against Pashinyan's visit to Moscow

Nikol Pashinyan cannot represent Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh at the meeting in Moscow; any decision that infringes on their interests will be recognized as illegitimate. This was stated by Vazgen Manukyan, a candidate from the oppositional "Salvation Committee" for the post of Prime Minister. Arsen Babayan, an activist of the "Fatherland" Party, has called on to block the airport and prevent Pashinyan from flying to Moscow.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the signing the truce with Azerbaijan, Armenia faced protests. 17 oppositional forces within the "Salvation Committee" are seeking Pashinyan's resignation. Figures of culture have created the "Fatherland's Voice" movement and called on the Armenian society to unite for Pashinyan's resignation.

On January 11, at the initiative of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, Moscow will host talks with the participation of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Putin, Aliev and Pashinyan intend to consider the settlement process in Nagorno-Karabakh and discuss further steps to resolve the region's problems.

The opposition is concerned about the meeting, as the results thereof "may become a continuation of the November 9 surrender," Vazgen Manukyan wrote on the Facebook. Any decision that runs counter Armenia's and Karabakh's interests will be treated as illegitimate and cancelled after the change of power, Mr Manukyan has stated, calling Pashinyan's removal from power the only way to defend the country.

Mr Pashinyan himself said that he would not leave his post, but after six weeks of protests, he agreed to hold early parliamentary elections.
