Rights defenders agree with conclusions of report on torture of Azerbaijani militaries
The report about acts of torture of prisoners of war (POWs) during the autumn aggravation of the Karabakh conflict is intended to inform the international community about the war crimes committed against Azerbaijani military servicemen, said Akhmed Abbasbeili, the head of the NGO named "Development of Society and Civil Relations". Human rights defenders in Baku have agreed with the findings of the authors of the report.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 27, a court in Baku arrested in absentia 13 Armenian military servicemen, accused of crimes committed in Azerbaijan. The above NGO has prepared a report on the torture of Azerbaijani POWs.
Mr Abbasbeili, the head of the NGO, has presented the story of Amin Musaev as a vivid example of the inhuman treatment of Azerbaijani POWs.
"Initially, a video appeared, in which Armenian militaries rendered help to the captured Amin Musaev, who was wounded. However, later the footage was posted of how Musaev was brought into a car, allegedly for delivery to the hospital, where they mocked and beat him up. A similar story happened with the captured Bairam Kerimov," Mr Abbasbeili has added.
Two other POWs, Nurlan Alizade and Nakhid Gamidov, were severely beaten with fists and submachine gun butts and kicked.
Akhmed Abbasbeili has noted that the report includes facts of torture of Azerbaijani POWs and civilians who were taken hostage during the first Karabakh war.
In the opinion of Rasul Djafarov, the head of the Baku Human Rights Club, the report of the above NGO about facts of torture of Azerbaijani POWs in reflecting the reality.
