Authorities of Shirak Region promise protesters to return POWs

The governor of the Shirak Region of Armenia has met local residents who had blocked roads demanding to release their relatives and fellow countrymen from Azerbaijani captivity. The protesters believe that the Armenian authorities are passive.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 15, the Defence Army of Nagorno-Karabakh lost contact with the personnel of several Karabakh military posts deployed in the vicinity of the villages of Khtsaberd (the Azeri name is Chailakkala) and Khin Takher (In Takhlar). According to the Karabakh Ombudsperson, about 60 soldiers were taken prisoners of war (POWs) near the village of Khtsaberd.

"Measures are being taken to return POWs at the highest level," Tigran Petrosyan, Governor of the Shirak Region of Armenia, stated on air of the "Gala" TV.

A resident of the village of Keti has recognized his son in a video posted in the media, where a weapon was put to his son's head.

Another female protester has stated that she recognized her son in the video on December 15.
