In Armenia, opposition announces starting protest actions
In Yerevan, supporters of the opposition came to protest actions, and activists block streets in different parts of the city. In a TV appeal, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a member of the "Dashnaktsutyun" Party, stated that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan must resign.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5, the opposition put forward an ultimatum to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. If Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan does not resign by December 8, actions of disobedience will begin throughout Armenia, the opposition claims.
Today, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a representative of the opposition, a member of the "Dashnaktsutyun" Party, has addressed residents of Armenia with an appeal to take to the streets in protest and demand the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan. "The term of the ultimatum has expired. Therefore, starting from this very moment, citizens of Armenia must use their constitutional right and organize various actions and protests in order to achieve their goal: the resignation of the Prime Minister," said Ishkhan Sagatelyan in the course of his TV appeal, as translated from the Armenian language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
In Yerevan, oppositionists block a number of streets. Activists took to the streets with the demand of the Nikol Pashinyan's resignation. They are chanting: "Nikol, go away!" and "Nikol is a traitor!", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The police detain the protesters who render resistance, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned from activist Arman Gevprgyan.
At 3:00 p.m. local time, 34 activists were detained, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Zarzand Gabrielyan, an officer of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Police of Armenia.
