Yerevan political analysts assess Pashinyan's chances to retain power

Nikol Pashinyan's chances of retaining power are close to zero, says Armen Vardanyan. His colleague, Stepan Danielyan, has noted that Pashinyan is trying to shift responsibility to the army commanders and authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh. The Prime Minister initially had chances to avoid the war, Naira Airumyan asserts.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the truce, protests were launched in Yerevan demanding the resignation of the Armenian Prime Minister.

Premier Pashinyan found himself in a difficult situation, when one part of the society treats him as a traitor, while another part sees him as a loser responsible for the war outcome, Stepan Danielyan, a political scientist, has stated.

In his opinion, Pashinyan is trying to shift responsibility for the situation, saying that he did not make decisions alone, but following the meetings with militaries and leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh, and that they all had agreed to sign the statement.

Armen Vardanyan, a political analyst, agrees with the opinion that Pashinyan is disclosing the details of his talks, including with the Russian president, in an attempt to whitewash himself. Mr Vardanyan has treated the Premier's statements about Shushi as manipulation.

Pashinyan, in particular, could have resigned to avoid the war, Naira Airumyan, a political commentator, has noted. She is sure that Pashinyan will not be able to restore his reputation. "It is tainted completely and irrevocably; and it's unlikely that anything will help him. There are all signs of the need to change the power," she has concluded.
