ECtHR requests Azerbaijan to submit information about Armenian prisoners of war

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has obliged Azerbaijan to provide by late November the information concerning nine prisoners of war and 10 captured civilians, the Armenia's Representative to the ECtHR announces.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 11, on the Goris-Berdzor-Stepanakert road, 10 residents of Armenia were taken prisoner by the Azerbaijani armed forces, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia claims.

The European Court of Human Rights applied special measures to Azerbaijan by requesting the Azerbaijani authorities to provide by November 27 the information concerning nine captured soldiers, Armenia's Representative to the ECtHR Yeghishe Kirakosyan reported. According to him, the information concerning 10 civilians taken prisoner should be submitted to the ECtHR by November 30.

Most of the videos about torture and inhuman treatment of prisoners of war in Azerbaijan are not fakes, says Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan. He suggests the above facts are not just war crimes, but a manifestation of the policy of "ethnic cleansing." The Azerbaijani authorities must be brought to justice for those crimes, Arman Tatoyan stated on his Facebook page on November 24.

Earlier, on November 21, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan released a statement in which it called fake most of the videos with "the insulting actions of the Azerbaijani military personnel towards bodies of the Armenian military personnel" and "inappropriate treatment of prisoners of war."
