Baku: residents of Abkhazia involved in hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh

In October, more than 20 people arrived from Abkhazia to Nagorno-Karabakh to participate in the fighting against the Azerbaijani army, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan announced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the parties to the conflict repeatedly announced the presence of militants from the Middle East in Nagorno-Karabakh. In particular, on October 30, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh made public a video in which a prisoner of war identified himself as a mercenary trained in Turkey. Azerbaijan called the above mentioned claim a falsification, and Azerbaijani presidential assistant Khikmet Gadjiev stated that militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party were fighting on the side of Armenia.

The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan is investigating a case against a group of Abkhaz residents who, according to Baku, participated in the hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone. In particular, Azerbaijani prosecutors called Seiran Kodjamanyan and Galust Trapizonyan, who lived in Abkhazia, the leaders of a grouping including more than 20 militants.

In October 2020, in Abkhazia, a grouping was mobilized which members met the leaders of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and agreed to participate in the hostilities on the Armenian side. They arrived in Nagorno-Karabakh with the support of the public institutions of Armenia and violated the internationally recognized state border of Azerbaijan, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reports on its official website today.
